Meet Ashley!

We are super excited to introduce you to Details' newest associate, Ashley Flippin. Ashley will be helping us on event weekends as well as accompanying us to a few meetings and doing an occasional blog post. We are very excited to have her on board as the company grows. I'll let her tell you a bit about herself!

"Hi! My name is Ashley Flippin, and I am the newest member of the Details team. I was born and raised in Fort Smith, AR, but am now a junior at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where I study Creative Writing and English. I am thrilled to be working with Pam and Amy. Working in events has always been an interest of mine because I love working one on one with people and look forward to using my creativity to help make someone’s dream wedding a reality. Each couple is different, and so each event is special and unique to that couple and their tastes.

In my spare time, I love to be with family and friends, write, read, run, dance, and be with my sweet dog Cassius. I am a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a Pal for the University International Exchange Student Program, and a member of the English Students Association. I also am very passionate about human rights and world affairs. I am a people person and believe that if we pay attention, we can learn something valuable from each person we meet. I can’t wait to begin my experience with Details, and hope for the chance to meet some of you soon! "

Every detail at Leah & Joe's reception was personal and meaningful to the couple. The tables were covered with old family linens, the flowers were put together by the bride's sister, and Joe's family made his favorite, whoopie pies. Ok friends, I have a confession, if you were to walk into my house today, you would not know that Christmas was 2 weeks ago. My tree is still trimmed and my stockings are still hung. Today however, I'm glad that my hectic schedule has left my festive decor up because it makes watching Laura & Casey's highlight video even better! Pam and I got the chance to attend the Association of Bridal Consultants national conference this year in Baltimore and it was such a great experience! We got to learn and be inspired amazing speakers, get to know some amazing new friends, and of course, take lots of pictures!

We are gearing up for a wedding this weekend and catching up from being gone so please excuse the lack of blogging and enjoy this 'tour' of the ABC conference!

The luncheon on Monday was gorgeous and delicious! Lot's of fun white centerpiece ideas...

Monday night we were treated to a talk by celebrity planner, Diann Valentine, who's new show, I Do Over, just premiered this weekend!

Breakfast on Tuesday was a whimsical treat in bold colors.

Duff Goldman, from Charm City Cakes and Food Network, made several cakes for us to swoon over.

Our Tuesday lunch was full of untraditional centerpieces.

The trip ended with an amazing talk by one of my favorite wedding celebrities, Grace Ormonde!

It's always a challenge to make church halls look like amazing reception venues, but with the help of talented floral designers, Distinctive Designs by Tanarah, I think we were able to do just that. Well do I have you on the edge of your seats to see the rest of this wedding?! I hope so. Today I am going to share the first part of their reception, the inside of the lovely Hardscrabble Country Club. Abbey & Lee also erected a large tent outside of the club and that will be it's own post.

Inside, we kept everything very traditional and soft. The colors were ivory, champagne, and gold with crystal accents wherever you looked.

The central design feature was a living floral chandelier over an enormous cake. Robert at Expressions and Jennifer at Shelby Lynn's took our ideas and made them an amazing reality!

When it came to Lee's cake, Jennifer at Shelby Lynn's took it to the next level. This cake, built around a TV, played John Wayne movies all night!

This week we are featuring Abbey & Lee's gorgeous traditional southern wedding. Everything about Abbey as a bride was classic and lovely. Enjoy this glimpse into her time preparing for her ceremony and then the main event itself!

I had to start with this image, it's one of my all time favorites. I had a picture of one of the main focal points of Abbey's reception, a giant floral chandelier, on my phone and handed it over to Abbey for a sneak peek, this was her reaction!

Baby Rose's Shower

Some of our favorite past wedding clients came to us a couple of months ago wanting to plan a fabulous shower for a family friend. We were thrilled to take on the event and embrace all things 'sugar and spice'. Nikki, the shower's honoree, loves all things pink and delicate and made our lives even easier when she told us she was naming her baby 'Rose'. The resulting shower this past Sunday was a huge success, enjoy!

The shower had a 'build baby's library' theme, so guests brought books in lieu of cards

Hey gang! What a week - the blog was a bit neglected while we had marathon meetings with many of our brides. We have gotten so many things finalized and gorgeous weddings are having the cherry placed on the top of their design! So much lovely coming your way this fall!

We were thrilled to receive a new testimonial from Erin's mom, Cindy. We really loved working with this family and we are so glad they enjoyed it as well!

As a fellow equestrian, I was THRILLED when Erin said she wanted to have her horse Bud play a role in her bridal shoot. Cowboy boots were donned and fence posts were climbed. The result was Scott Plauche capturing an amazingly beautiful bridal session!

Lately we have been blessed with the addition of several daily blogs that are featuring local and regional wedding loveliness. Here are three sites that I can't get enough of and should be on your daily reading list too!

First up, a regional treasure, Southern Aisle. Lauren at SA recently featured our own Abbey and her beautiful bridals which you HAVE to check out. We were thrilled to start what we hope will be a long and wonderful relationship with this site. Lauren is an Arkansas girl, who I coincidentally went to high school with, dedicated to dishing out all things Southern and good to her readers.

Speaking of Lauren at SA, she has teamed up with two other Arkansas ladies to form The Wedding Post of Arkansas which brings daily Natural State beauty to it's readers. Local couples can announce their engagements and weddings on this site as well.

And finally, while we are talking about Natural State Gems, Arkansas Bride has started a daily blog which is fantastic for local couples and vendors alike! I am working on a post for them right now and hope to be teaming up with them as much as possible in the future.

The Anatomy of a Welcome Basket

Abbey & Lee put together a fantastic treat for each of their out of town guests. Large welcome baskets with local treats and tips were waiting on guests and wedding party alike when they checked into their hotel for the weekend.

Brides ask me all of the time what they should put in their welcome baskets and since Abbey did such a great job putting her's together, I took some pictures to give you all some ideas.

The combination of information and local fun is the key to a great welcome basket for your guests. On the information front, Abbey had the help of the ladies at Molly's Paperie and Merry Maps.

All guests were treated to a charming map of Fort Smith with key wedding locations highlighted.

Direction cards were included and personalized to each hotel to ensure guests felt confident about their travels in town.

Family members, as well as wedding party participants, were given detailed itineraries for the weekend.

Out of town guests, too, were given a general itinerary so they could plan for their time here.

After we made sure all of the logistics were taken care of, we had fun! Local products galore adorned the baskets, here are a few of my favorites.

Personalized bags filled with yummy popcorn from The Popped Popcorn Company.

Local magazines and brochures.

Personalized water as well as a detailed map to ensure guests were always headed the right direction.

A sampler from local candy company, Kopper Kettle.

To encourage guests to head out of the hotel and explore the town, they had coupons for many local joints. I'm sure this one to Goody's was a hit!

There were many other small Fort smith treasures hidden in these extra large welcome baskets. While not everyone can include this large of an array of treats, taking a few of these ideas and applying them to your event can really impress your guests. This is their first impression of your event (and maybe your town) make sure they fell welcome!

Lanye & Vance are Married!

Vance and Lanye became Mr & Mrs Lewis in a small ceremony at The Inn at Carnall Hall in Fayetteville this past Friday. Friends and family watched this super sweet couple celebrate in style. Their 'I do's' were said in the round under a gorgeous crystal chandelier and their reception boasted gorgeous decor from the linen to the florals. There will be much to share from this event, can't wait! Here are a few pictures I snapped.

I love this next picture of Lanye, this is exactly how I want all of my brides to feel on their wedding day!

Our groom, Vance, just graduated from West Point a week prior to the wedding, and we couldn't have been happier to spend part of our Memorial Day weekend with him! We thank him and all of our country's service men and women for all that they do.

Meet Jordan

For the past couple of weeks, we have been throwing our new intern, Jordan Bozeman, into the deep end of the wedding planning pool to get her ready for the amazing spring events she is about to participate in. So far she has done an excellent job of taking it all in and seems to be loving all things wedding! Here's a quick look at her life outside of her Details internship.

"I am a junior marketing major at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. I am from from a small East Texas town called Canton. I also play for the university golf team and am an active member in my sorority Delta Gamma.

I am interested in wedding and event planning because I am a very meticulous, organized and creative person. I have been planning birthday parties, dances, baby showers and so on for year so I feel that this industry fits me perfectly!"

I was thrilled when I found Lindsay Nicole Design Studio earlier this year. I knew as soon as I saw her work that she had to design our blog! I feel Lindsay has outdone herself updating our site.

Budget Tip : Printable Save the Dates

The world of wedding invitations is overflowing with loveliness these days and brides often find themselves coveting paper products that push their invitation budget to the max. When brides budget for their invitations, they often forget to add in the cost of save the dates and then suddenly they are left with less than expected for those gorgeous formal invitations.

Instead of taking funds away from the impact of your primary invitation, think about using a 'printable' as your save the date. This means you pay around $15 for a pdf file of your save the date and then you print them at home. These serve the purpose of notifying your guests but don't break the bank. And don't worry if you can't find a printable that compliments your dream invite suite, a save the date can stand on it's own in style. It's just a fun introduction to your event.

If you have a wedding website, make sure you put it on the save the date so your guests can easily access information like accommodations and directions. By hosting this info online, you can save on extra cards that would otherwise have to go in your final invitation suite.

Paper products provide so much of a 'feel' to your event, make sure you budget accordingly and find a professional who can guide you through the process of choosing your suite. Use this information today to help keep a cap on this part of your budget and still get a dreamy formal invitation!

Pin Up Parties

Happy Monday! Today I get to feature one of my favorite photographers, Meredith Melody, who is offering a super cool new experience for ladies all over the Arkansas area.

Meredith has put together a super fun event she has dubbed a 'Pin Up Party'. Basically it's an awesome alternative to a traditional bachelorette party (or in addition to one). Meredith meets the hostess and her close friends at a luxury hotel and amongst getting VIP treatment, each girl participates in a boudoir session. If you are a bit iffy on the idea of boudoir photos, don't be - Meredith is super sweet and will make you comfortable in any way she can.

Talk about taking your girls weekend to the next level!

Nicole & Zac : Engagement Pics

Today I get to share the engagement shoot of one of my oldest friends who happens to now be a Details client. (Super exciting!).

Nicole and Zac decided to head out to a family members ranch to take their photos. That was perfect as they are both vets and for as long as I have known Nicole she's been a horse fanatic just like yours truly.

Beaty Photography did an amazing job with this shoot and I couldn't be more thrilled to finally get to work with them. Enjoy these shots and get excited about this June event that is sure to be a show-stopper.
